How Can Writers and Producers Help? Easy Ways For Our Members Who Are Authors, Producers, and Screenwriters to Participate in the Crime Lab Project 1) Add your name to our list of supporters. Let us know you are willing to be part of the project, and we'll list your name on our Web site. Send your name and e-mail address to: crime @ crimelabproject.com. Please delete the spaces in this address before you use it. We're trying to reduce spam. 2) Sign up for our CLP mailing list. You'll receive updates and information about the CLP and your e-mail address will not be shared with others. 3) Sign up for our news service at CLPNews@yahoogroups.com. This list provides a twice-weekly digest of news about forensic science and crime labs. Send a blank e-mail message to 4) Put a link to this site on your Web site. Download the logo here. 5) Talk about the needs of Crime Labs when you speak in public. We have materials to help you become an informed speaker, but you can also simply say, "I'm part of the Crime Lab Project. We're a group of writers, producers, and others who believe it's important for the public to realize that American crime labs are severely underfunded. We aren't looking for donations. We want you to contact your politicians at the local, state, and federal level and ask them to increase funding for crime labs. You can learn more about the project at crimelabproject.com." If you have a link to the project from your site, let the audience know. 6) Go to our Educational Materials page and download handouts. Copy them and hand them out when you speak. Coming soon! 7) Stay informed. Check this site often for new information, especially on the News & Resources page. 8) Call or e-mail your politicians at the local, state, and federal level. Let them know that adequately funding forensic science labs must be a high priority. 9) Respond to CLP Action Requests and e-mail, fax, or call to help use get important funding legislation passed. 10) Mention the CLP and its goals when you are interviewed. Let us know when and where the interview appears. 11) Let us know! Let us know when you've spoken about the CLP or sent out information about it. 12) Mention the CLP and issues related to crime labs on your blogs and on the blogs of others who might be interested. 13) Mention the CLP and issues related to crime labs when you send out newsletters to your fans.
